Description | xi-3,5-Dimethyl-2(5H)-furanone belongs to the class of organic compounds known as butenolides. These are dihydrofurans with a carbonyl group at the C2 carbon atom. xi-3,5-Dimethyl-2(5H)-furanone has been detected, but not quantified in, a few different foods, such as common mushrooms (Agaricus bisporus), mushrooms, and oyster mushrooms (Pleurotus ostreatus). This could make XI-3,5-dimethyl-2(5H)-furanone a potential biomarker for the consumption of these foods. Based on a literature review very few articles have been published on xi-3,5-Dimethyl-2(5H)-furanone. |
