| Description | PC(P-16:0/22:6(4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z)) is a phosphatidylchloline (PC). It is a glycerophospholipid in which a phosphorylcholine moiety occupies a glycerol substitution site. As is the case with diacylglycerols, phosphatidylcholines can have many different combinations of fatty acids of varying lengths and saturation attached to the C-1 and C-2 positions. PC(P-16:0/22:6(4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z)), in particular, consists of one 1Z-hexadecenyl chain to the C-1 atom, and one 4Z,7Z,10Z,13Z,16Z,19Z-docosahexaenoyl to the C-2 atom. In E. coli, PCs can be found in the integral component of the cell outer membrane. They are hydrolyzed by Phospholipases to a 2-acylglycerophosphocholine and a carboxylate. This compound has been identified in human blood as reported by (PMID: 31557052 ). Pc(16:0p/22:6) is not a naturally occurring metabolite and is only found in those individuals exposed to this compound or its derivatives. Technically PC(16:0p/22:6) is part of the human exposome. The exposome can be defined as the collection of all the exposures of an individual in a lifetime and how those exposures relate to health. An individual's exposure begins before birth and includes insults from environmental and occupational sources. |
